John Maxwell has been a trial attorney for his entire 35 year legal career.  He received significant trial experience in criminal defense representation for the first five years of his practice in Northern California after graduation from Santa Clara Law School.  He also volunteered many hours as a pro tem judge for Santa Clara County in Traffic and Small Claims Court. 

John then transitioned to civil litigation representing counties, cities, school districts, hospitals and businesses.  He successfully tried over 20 civil jury trials in Northern California before moving to Southern California in 2002.  As the son of a physician and a nurse, he then made the natural transition to full time medical defense work doing exclusively medical and dental negligence defense cases as well as defending medical facilities on employment claims.  As a partner in his own firm, he was the primary trial attorney and tried numerous cases to verdict as well as binding arbitrations to completion. 

John is now a senior trial attorney at Dummit, Buchholz & Trapp handling medical negligence, elder/dependent adult abuse, and employment matters.
