Mr. Kushner graduated from San Diego State University in 1971 with a B.A. in Political Science. He continued his studies at the University doing graduate work in Political Science. He began his legal education at California Western School of Law in 1974 and during his third year of Law School he served as Book Review editor for the Law Review.

He became a member of the California Bar in 1977 and took a position as an associate at a general liability defense firm in San Diego. After two years Mr. Kushner accepted a position with an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles. Over the next fourteen years Mr. Kushner successfully tried numerous auto vs. auto, product liability and premises liability cases. Eager to explore different areas of the law, in 1991  Mr. Kushner accepted a position with the Los Angeles office of Dummit, Buchholz and Trapp.

Over the past 25 years Mr. Kushner has represented hospital entities, their physicians and non-physician staff in professional negligence cases, as well as cases involving allegations of dependent adult abuse and elder abuse. Mr. Kushner has successfully defended health care providers at the trial court and appellate court levels. As part of his practice he has presented "In-Services" to hospital personnel on such topics as medical record-keeping, confidentiality of medical records, the litigation process and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. He has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience which allows him to identify, evaluate and resolve medical/legal issues.

Since 2014 Mr. Kushner has also served as outside Legal Counsel for American Golf Corporation. This is a part-time position in which Mr. Kushner oversees tort litigation arising from AGC's golf courses throughout the United States.

Mr. Kushner has served as a mediator for tort cases in the Los Angeles County Superior Court and as a mediator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Attorney-Client Fee Dispute Committee.
